When AI initiatives stall in equipment finance, the instinct is to blame the technology. The real problem is almost always operational. The AI is working. The workflows it is supposed to improve are not designed for it.

The Diagnosis

Stalled AI initiatives share three characteristics: the AI was deployed before the workflow was redesigned, the team was not trained on how to use the output, and there is no defined owner for the AI system's performance.

The Fix

Step one is workflow redesign. Map the current process, identify the handoffs, and redesign the workflow assuming the AI output is reliable. Step two is training. Not technology training. Workflow training. Step three is ownership. Assign a named individual responsible for the AI system's output quality.
